Scanning can reduce repeated typing, but it does not replace a clear warehouse process. Define item identity, locations, units, batch or serial needs, receiving checks, picking rules, and adjustment permissions first.
Test the workflow at the place where staff actually work, including weak connectivity, damaged labels, partial quantities, and wrong scans. The system should make exceptions visible instead of forcing staff to work around hidden errors.
Once the operating flow is clear, use real activity to decide which steps are worth automating. Agree on the basic definitions for items, people, locations, statuses, and adjustment reasons before testing a small set of real transactions. Clear permissions, audit history, and exception handling usually help daily operations more than adding features alone.
